ArcMap Utility Tools

The following application has been tested and is certified for use on ITS workstations running ArcGIS 9.2. The application and Installation Guide is available through Team Services Website under the Supplemental Applications and Instructions library.

The Service Center Agencies often need ArcGIS tools to measure, capture points and clip vector data. Based on an initial design by the Michigan NRCS Staff Office, the National Cartography & Geospatial Center (NCGC) developed a toolbar for ArcMap 9 to provide these and other capabilities. The Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) delivers similar tools for distance and area measurement in ArcGIS 9.2, although differ significantly from the Utility Tools.

The Utility Toolbar provides four ArcMap capabilities:

• measures distance feet, meters or miles
• measures area in acres, square feet or square miles
• captures point to a vector layer in degrees-minutes-seconds, decimal degrees or projected coordinates
• clips vector layers and summarizes results

These documents require Adobe Acrobat.
